Now Hiring – Plant Production Manager
The Plant Production Manager is responsible for day-to-day manufacturing operations in our sheet metal/steel fabrication facility which includes managing labor, materials, production workflow planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating efficiencies in accordance with cost, quality, and sales/production growth specifications.
The Plant Production Manager position is located in Denison, Texas, and reports to the Plant Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage resources necessary to operate and improve manufacturing capabilities and processes.
- Assign responsibilities to shop personnel and track performance.
- Hire, train, and evaluate manufacturing personnel.
- Determine staffing requirements in consultation with Plant Manager and within budgetary requirements.
- Review manufacturing schedules, establish production goals and work procedures to meet demand.
- Provide recommendations to Plant Manager regarding equipment purchases, maintenance programs, equipment retirement schedules, and facilities layout.
- Develop day-to-day operating strategies, plans, and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate workflow and assembly methods. Provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Negotiate materials prices, and develop OEM relationships with suppliers.
- Prepare and maintain production reports.
- Provide recommendations for plant supplies, equipment, facility, and human resource needs for budgetary planning.
- Provide suggestions for product design changes to improve workflow and reduce overall cost.
- Maintain inventory/cost-control programs.
- Evaluate supplier networks to improve costs and efficiencies.
- Lead safety program.
- Responsible for production tracking and Quality Improvement program.
- Ensure standards of performance are met within the manufacturing group.
- Motivate and inspire the manufacturing group.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Skill/Job Requirements
- 5-years recent work experience, supervisory or technical role in the manufacturing environment.
- Technical degree, or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing facility.
- Self-Starter, ability to work independently, and in group/team setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make complex decisions and excellent problem-solving ability.
- Inventory/materials management experience.
- Knowledge of inbound/outbound logistics and shipping requirements.
- SolidWorks 3D CAD experience preferred.
- Occasional travel required.
