Now Hiring – Project Engineer

Purpose of Job

The purpose of the Project Engineering position is to engineer a solution for customers’ ventilation needs, put together a sales package that provides all of the information needed to secure orders, and manage project teams throughout the project to successful completion.

The Project Engineer reports to the Director of Project Engineering

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design Requirements – Perform heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and cost analysis, and other calculations to determine the best design for each project to put Moffitt in the best position to close an order.
  • Specification\Drawing Review – Review bid package drawings and specifications (“plan and spec” and “design build”) provided to determine the requirements each project and determine the best path to securing an order.
  • CFD Modeling – Coordinate with CFD Engineer on projects requiring CFD analysis
  • Product Estimating – Assemble various costs associated with providing products to the customer.
  • Installation Estimating – Assemble various costs associated with installing the products involved in the particular project.
  • Preparation of proposal packages – Prepare technical proposal packages that include a narrative explaining your design, an equipment layout drawing, design calculations, equipment submittals, and/or pricing.
  • Project Management
    • Work with project coordinators and design engineers after a project is awarded to help ensure the project is completed on time and on budget.
    • Review drawings and vendor POs for accuracy based on sold design.
    • All administrative duties associated with project management.
    • Prepare and submit vendor POs.
    • Prepare project pricing and generate pricing reports.
    • Prepare and transmit change orders to customers and subcontractors.
    • Serve as point of contact throughout the project for the customer.
  • Issue Resolution – Work with project team as necessary to resolve issues as they arise on projects.
  • National Travel – Make site visits to gain a full understanding of the requirements and challenges that a project carries and provide customer and project support. Travel up to 25%.
  • Customer Service – Answer technical questions, trouble-shoot warranty issues and provide order support.
Skill/Job Requirements
  • 2 year degree (4 year engineering or technical degree preferred) or 5 years experience in similar field.
  • Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite, PowerPoint, and Acrobat. Experience with ACAD/SolidWorks is desired.
  • Must be self-motivated, responsible and dependable with ability to work independently as well as in group/team setting.
  • Must be able to prioritize and apply appropriate urgency to tasks and situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with professional sales presence on phone and in person.
  • Technical mindset that can be applied to design and problem solving
Training:

Moffitt will provide training on Moffitt processes and procedures, Industrial Ventilation design, heat loss, heat gain calculations, HVAC and duct design. Additional training may be provided through Internet class work or other sources.
