Save Money with CFD Modeling

You can save money with CFD modeling. CFD modeling and analysis puts an end to replacing fans because “that’s what we’ve always done”. It means you no longer need to spend money and cross your fingers that your plant will be cooler. So no more taking the word of a guy you’ll never hear from again. And no more asking a contractor with no experience in ventilation to reduce the heat in your building. Invest in a CFD model of your building to find the right, customized solution for your facility the first time.

What is CFD Modeling?

CFD, or Computational Fluid Dynamics uses numerical analysis to study fluid flows. It is often used for aerodynamic and aerospace analysis, but it can also be used to determine how air moves throughout your building. A CFD model can show where the air enters and leaves your facility. Furthermore, it can show where the warm air collects, and the cool air comes in. By modeling your building, you can get a better idea of your current ventilation issues, and how to solve them.

How CFD Modeling Can Work for You

There are four simple steps to help you save money with CFD modeling.

  1. Data Collection: The Moffitt team gets information about your plant. This includes studying blueprints, making site visits to take temperature readings, and looking at the current system.
  2. Baseline Assessment: Moffitt CFD engineers make a complete model of your building. This includes developing a model with the exact dimensions and layouts of the facility. The model will also have architectural features like walls, doors, and windows. Then they add production equipment. Not only does this equipment affect where the air flows in the building, but it often acts as an additional heat source. Finally, the current ventilation system is modeled. This includes wall louvers where air enters and vents or fans where it leaves.
  3. Design Development: Next is the most important stage because the model is brought into a CFD design program. This program models the flow of the air through the openings and shows the current system in action. The model is then changed to implement the new ventilation solution suggestions. If the new proposal includes a MatrixVent, then that device will be added to the building. The model will then show how the airflow will change in the building with this new equipment. The Moffitt team works closely with you throughout the modeling process. We want the model to be an accurate representation of your facility to help you make the best decision for your new ventilation system.
  4. Proposed Results: This includes seeing exactly how the temperature and air flow has changed at various locations in the building. Sometimes this stage includes comparing multiple options or finding the best solution to meet a stated budget.

Invest in CFD Modeling to Save

By finding the right ventilation solution before you spend more (or any) money on equipment, you can save a good deal on the total investment. For instance, a CFD model gives you a goal in mind for your ventilation upgrades. This can help you focus on solutions that will work and budget your ventilation improvement expenditures over time. This also eliminates the trial-and-error process involved with ventilating one area at a time.

Additionally, having a plan can help save on work stoppages and installation costs. This also enables you to buy items together which can save on manufacturing and shipping costs. These factors can add up to make an enormous difference when it comes to staying on budget for your new solution.

Our customers always say the CFD model was worth the cost. So instead of spending a bunch of money on a guess, find your ideal ventilation solution for your building with CFD modeling.
