6 Questions with Mike Andorka from Moffitt Fan

MOFFITT FAN CORP Plant Manager Mike Andorka has been with the company since the doors opened back in 1993. In fact, Mike was the one that got the plant up and running over 20 years ago. In that time Mike has seen hundreds, if not thousands of projects come through the factory doors. We talked with Mike about being part of Moffitt Corporation and what he likes to do when he isn’t working.

  1. Where are you from and what brought you to Le Roy?
I grew up in Canton, Ohio just a few miles from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1993 Bill Moffitt asked me to come work for him to help get a manufacturing facility up and running in Le Roy, NY. I had always enjoyed working with Bill Moffitt, so I said sure why not and I have been here ever since.
  2. You’ve been with Moffitt Fan Corp since it opened in 1993, what’s been the biggest change?
Back in the early years, we had many more employees doing jobs manually where today we have fewer employees doing the work with more modern equipment. Manufacturing as a whole has changed a lot in just the past 25 years, and industrial ventilation manufacturing is no different. The processes used to make a product today will involve computerization in one form or another.
  3. What has been the most interesting job site you’ve visited? Any good stories?
I don’t think I can pick out any one job site in particular. Basically, I find them all to be very interesting. I have probably seen many products being made that most people never will. Also, I have met many great people along the way.
  4. Moffitt Fan AndorkaBefore working here, what was the most interesting job you had?
Back in High school, I worked at a moderate sized bakery. [I made] everything from bread and pastries and delivering wedding cakes all weekend for the extra pay. I did not eat cake, donuts, or bread for many years after, for reasons I will keep locked in my mind.
  5. What hobbies do you have outside of work?
I like to be outside taking care or my garden or the landscaping around my house. I’m the only one I know who likes to mow grass. I’m involved with the Boy Scouts and my daughter’s Color Guard team, and those activities keep me terribly busy.
  6. Finally, if you had to sing Karaoke, what would be your song?
Bob Seger – Like a Rock
